Market sewing prices

Soooo I’m doing a market and each time I make something for it I will put it here and then ask you guys how much I should sell it for. Please say what currency/ country your saying your price in, bc I’m Aussie and something $30AU is VERY different to $30USD.

Anyways, here is what I’ve made sew far. (See what I did there?)

They’re next to a 30cm (15’) ruler. Wait, is ‘ inch or is “ inch? Or is that feet? Imperial system is too confusing to me lol (no offence)

I’m from the US and I agree about the imperial system! I used cm for all my Ribblr patterns lol! Those are so cute, especially the whale(?) and manta Ray!

Inches uses “ and feet uses ‘ - and it is very confusing to lots of Americans as well. The abbreviations in and ft are more clear to most people.

Your plushies are really cute :purple_heart:
How much cost do you have invested in it? Materials and time

Hmm. I’ve made some with a solid 18 hours of work and some take r5 min. The paws take about 2 1/2 hours total, the manta ray 45min and the whale 4,5 or maybe 6 hours? Idk. The snakes took maybe 4 hours to make? Sewing is a long process lol

Well the material costs about $16AU per colour, and the patterns can be free to $15AU

Wow! I’m not sure on prices, but definitely don’t underprice yourself. That’s a lot of work!

I’ve seen a few different pricing styles. Some claim just something like 3x materials (since they assume you’ll never be able to charge a fair hourly price.) Some factor in a fair hourly price or at least a percentage of hourly time on top of materials. Some use some kind of formula based on in/cm or number of stitches alone (that adjusts based on the difficulty of the stitch &/or fabric) Some just go a ‘feel’ based on size/complexity of the item

Can you check markets near you and make some comparisons to see what kind of prices your local market handles? That’s really what seems to be the best way to test - rural vs urban; high vs low cost & wage of living areas; average age of the local population - and so much more goes into what kind of prices you can get as opposed to someone in a different area.

Get a good price though! They look great and you’ve put in a lot of work! :purple_heart:

(Sorry this was a long post of not much help :worried: )

That was quite helpful Thankyou. I will come back with prices in a few min and maybe you could help judge if they are fair of something. I’ll convert them into ur currencies currency just to make it easier for you

(All of these prices are rounded to the nearest $5) Mk the blue whale maybe AUD$50, which is about EUR$30, (or ist it £) and $35USD. for the snakes, about AUD$30 each, which is about EUR$15 and USD$20. Then the paws maybe $15AUD each, which is EUR$10, and USD$10. Then for the stingrays, possibly AUD$25, which is EUR$15, and USD$15

These prices/conversions are all rounded to the nearest $5, up or down

If you’re converting to euros the symbol is €
The £ symbol is for the pound sterling and is from UK

I believe that covers the majority of currency conversions for most people (I know of a few it won’t, but I don’t recall right now where I’ve seen people mention to add them in myself) so that will very much help everyone chime in with their opinion! :purple_heart:

I think those prices would work. You may be able to adjust as you get a sense for your market and clients.

As a crafter I think your prices are too low for the time and effort  they’re probably a good price from the point of view of purchasers though
