its crochet where you use thread and a really small crochet hook (usually 0.5-1.5mm)

There’s a pattern book on Amazon, if I remember right, that I’m eyeing since a while.
But as far as where to start? Just get some thread and a book and roll.
Maybe start with a tiny flower or a doily?

That’s the one I had in mind.
Try starting with simple round shapes or squares and go from there.
Get the feel for it before starting something more intricate that will just end up frustrating you.

Not really.
I’m the grab what my house isn’t hiding from me kind of crafter 
I did buy an inexpensive set of metal hooks with flat bamboo handles though at some point.
No idea where. eBay?

I like Susan Bates but uncertain that they make any hooks that small.
