motivation troubles

I started selling some things on Facebook marketplace, and Im taking custom orders. currently I have about 7 orders yet to make, and 4 of them are giant stuffed animals.

on top of AP homework, school clubs and drama rehersals I’m having trouble having motivation to work on any of the orders or schoolwork ):
does anyone have any tips that help them?

So hard, but if you get overwhelmed you’ll not get anything done. I suggest close your order books for a while.
Work out how long it will take for each item allowing 1 non crochet day for each crochet day (to give yourself a break or do your studies)

If any items are the same, batch make them so all bodies, legs etc

Message each person and agree a longer deadline (however long you think plus 1 week at least).

Then maybe gameify it… with a star chart , or a treat for each part/finished item, maybe see if you can beat your deadlines or decide on what you are going to spend the money on and put a pic on your wall of that thing

Whether it’s a gorgeous crochet kit , clothing, a day out or something else it will help you visualise the end goal

Personally I don’t take orders for that very reason… that once its an order it becomes a ā€˜have to’ rather than a ā€˜want to’ but sometimes mindset can help… like think oh wow i get to make some money doing crochet instead of having to work at… xyz think of a job your mates are doing to earn cash that you wouldn’t like doing lol:laughing:

Also YAY!!! you’ve got lots of orders!!!

As a high school student having to balance hobbies and school is hard. My first piece of advice to you is to relieve stress (I know crochet may help some people but please refrain from this). After you are cool and collected, focus on your school work, which should come first. Work on your crochet on Friday and Saturday evenings. Sunday can be used as a day to get school work back up and completed If needed.

I believe in you! If you have any questions reach out and I will try to help the best I can. You got this!!! =)

Agree to not take any more orders til you have more motivation. Can you listen to a good audiobook or podcast while you stitch? That helps me.

Do homework first. Also you can double strand yarn and size up the hook.

Work on the school work when you feel like avoiding the orders. When you need a break you can put on some music or something to watch that you don’t really care about, and crochet the orders as a way to relax. Swap between the two depending on which you feel like procrastinating on (but obviously prioritize the school work, especially if there are deadlines coming up). I call it ā€œuseful procrastinationā€ and it helps me feel like I have options even though I’m still doing what I need to.

My genuine advice is to take a snapshot of the stress you’re feeling right now - write it down, sketch it out, record yourself… whatever.

The next time you have an opportunity to add a project/activity, take a look at your snapshot and really think it through.

As for making it through, all you can do is put one foot in front of the other. :heavy_heart_exclamation:

usa a planner to organize everything- So you put the date and time of your after school activities, and write down how long you will do homework and crochet every day.
(You are not alone on this boat, I’m not so good at comforting but if u need to talk, I’m here <3)
