My hot take: I think we all have a problem…😬

My hot take for today: Hoarding 100 free patterns on Ribblr that you know deep down you will never, ever actually make is a form of digital hoarding. :skull:

Like, my wishlist and pattern library is absolutely out of control, but am I going to stop grabbing every cute free pattern I see? Absolutely not.

Please tell me I’m not the only one doing this. How many unmade patterns do you currently have in your library? Let’s confess. :backhand_index_pointing_down:

Almost every one in my library, at least by percentage. I have yet to make one that wasn’t for a test, I believe.

I’m not gonna be counting…

Well… I just spent a lot of time counting, but I have 198 patterns I haven’t made. Some of these I tried to make and they weren’t tested and didn’t work and others are knitting patterns I didn’t realize where knit till I started making them

Uh yes too real

I get my patterns when they’re on a deal bc when I might want to make them next they might require money

Almost every pattern I saved is something I will absolutely never make. It just looks cute sooo…

Me too, but honestly - when I was looking for patterns for a challenge I still had trouble finding things that I already own and don’t need more freebies for. When you are looking for something fitting a specific topic 100+ isn’t much.

Omg i seriously get it. I was looking for a granny square based vest but couldn’t find a free pattern :slightly_frowning_face:

I have been wanting to make a vest for a while now too:thinking: seems like there is still some need for more pattern of this kind:slightly_smiling_face:

I agree! I partake in this culture I’m not gonna lie, but I haven’t saved that many patterns lately, and I tend to only save ones I think are up my alley (like ones I’m worried will be paid in the future and are something I’d like to make one day In the future)

I currently have 636 patterns in my wishlist, but very few in my saved patterns… soooo I need to do a clean out I think :downcast_face_with_sweat:

I have a lot of patterns saved. Both in my Patterns section and my Wish list section. What can I say, I completely LOVE crochet!

I do not consider myself a hoarder, or that any of that is hoarding for me. I don’t save anything unless I think it’ll be of use to me So yes, I expect I will use them all at some point or I don’t save them

If you really like something and think you will want to make it later on, saving it is just so much easier than trying to find it all over again later amongst ALL the many many many patterns here

Of course the patterns I have paid for and bought, those I am pretty much 100% sure I will use and fairly soon.

The ones in my wishlist, …a bit less certain, but they still serve a purpose. As I complete my current list of paid patterns, many from my wishlist will soon move up the line to become paid listings and soon to be made projects. Others serve the purpose of sparking ideas of what I can try later on. That serves an important purpose too.

But when it comes to my Wishlist, it changes frequently. I go through it fairly often and remove what no longer calls to me and add In new things that do.

So I guess it’s not hoarding in the sense that something goes in my Wishlist and stays there forever. I do fairly frequently “clean house” and remove something if it no longer calls to me.
