i find that smaller hooks, while making your stitches tight, are frustrating and painful to crochet blanket yarn with. for bernat specifically, i use nothing below a 6.5, and even that can get testy. i recommend a 7-8.00 mm hook (:

For bernat blanket, I use 8 mm which is what they say on the package and it works great. If you want looser stitches 9mm works good and so does 7 mm for tighter stitches.

I would suggest using a larger hook if your tension is tight, and smaller if its too loose. I would say from the sizes 8-4 depending on yarn size.

I use a 5mm hook and love how my patterns turn out w that size.

5.5-6mm is what I like for amigurumi, to get tight stitches so that stuffing can’t poke through at all. For other stuff, probably 8-10mm.

I don’t use Bernat yarn, but I do use a super chunky yarn similar to it. I use a 5.5mm hook for it!

I use a 7mm for plushies or 8mm for blankets, hats, scarves. For Bernat baby blanket it use a 6mm for plushies or 7 or blankets, hats, scarves

I use a 4.5/7/g+ or 5/H with blanket. Reason being that bernat tends to vary in its thickness and pile differently per each skein. Some are alot more fluffy and looser so you need a smaller hook for tighter stitches and others are more dense and thick and you need a bigger hook.

I just grab a random hook and 70% of the time it works
