Hello! I have a question about posting one of my patterns here, i would be very glad if someone could help me!
For the patterns I already published here, i added a pdf file to download with the pattern too. I know some people prefer the pdf.
I want to post my skeleton pattern (pic) but with this one, the pdf version is the only one i could add. That’s because i’m using different type of color changes in it and to understand it, you need to look at the pics from the pdf.
So my question is, can i post the pattern here with ONLY the pdf file to download? If i mention it in the describtion? Is that okay with the rules here?
If that’s gonna be an paid pattern I wouldn’t recommend it. That’s because pdf is sharable( I think that’s how u spell it… idk I’m not native speaker) and some people might redistribute it as their own. Also Ribblr has recently added option to import pdf patterns for 25 gems. Also it’s possible to put pictures on Ribblr patterns as well as on pdf. Hope this helped and ur skeletons are adorable
I believe you can put the pdf into the pattern and make it both ways in one pattern. I feel like having only a pdf pattern can lead to people sharing it for free on other apps.
I will only speak for myself on this one. I joined Ribblr for the ePattern platform. The ability to highlight the row you are working on, the ability to cross off finished rows, the ability to display just one size of a multi sized item, these are what I want as someone purchasing patterns. As a designer, I have used the PDF import functionality recently added. It works pretty well. You may have to rearrange a few lines, but I’ve been impressed at the import capabilities. Also if there are any issues with the import, support has been able to correct them pretty quickly. Also as a designer, the ePattern platform makes theft of your pattern very difficult, since you can’t share the purchased pattern like you can a pdf.
So I would try the import pattern, its worth the 25 gems.
You need to create an e-pattern and then you have the option to add a pdf version to it.
You can copy and paste everything from your pdf into Ribbuild.
Ribbuild provides designers with the ability to add notes and information throughout the pattern, so I’m not sure what it is that can’t be explained or described in an e-pattern. If you need to add a diagram for the colour changes or a video of a technique this is also possible.
Hi! I think all patterns here must include the instructions in an interactive format, with the option to attach a PDF if the designer would like to. Uploading just the PDF file is not permitted as Ribblr advertises itself as an e-pattern platform with all the benefits associated with that format. It’s possible to attach images to individual lines of the pattern, if you need to add pictures:
There’s also a feature where if you list in the Materials section a particular colour and name it MC for example, anywhere in the pattern that ‘MC’ is typed will be highlighted in the preselected colour:
Additionally if your colour changes are in a graph format, Ribblr has an interactive graph feature that can be used to upload it:
Oh you helped me so much with the graph one!! This was exactly the problem, I couldn’t explain it without the graph and highlighting colors, it would be too confusing. I need to check out those options, thank you so much
“Hi! According to Ribblr’s rules, you cannot publish a pattern as a PDF file only. It has to be created using the Ribblr ePattern editor so it’s interactive for users. However, you can add a PDF version as a bonus download alongside the ePattern! Hope this clears it up for you. ”
There is a feature to convert a PDF into an e pattern so you can use that. But since the main problem here are the photos, you could just take the photos you have in the pdf and add it in the e pattern
