Need some help

Hi everyone,

My friend recently announced she’s expecting a baby in June and I want to make her a baby blanket.

I’ve never made anything for a baby and wanted some help with deciding what yarn is best/safest to use for babies and any tips when crocheting stuff meant for babies.

I’m also planning on something kinda woodland themed or like fairy forest if you have any patterns.

Hi do you want free or paid patterns? Also do you want to be on Ribblr or off of Ribblr is fine too?

When my cousin had her baby, I used Yarnspirations’ Bernat Baby Blanket yarn to crochet her a baby blanket. I would definitely decide beforehand how long/wide you want the blanket to be and have a rough sketch with everything you want on the blanket and dimensions of the blanket.

Any paid or unpaid or on or off ribblr patterns would work I’ve found a few on Pinterest I think I might do :)

If you want to make toys, embroider the eyes. The safety eyes are not safe ( ironic I know) no beads, no loose ribbons, strings.

use yarn that is as follows:

OEKO-TEX CERTIFICATES

What is OEKO-TEX?

Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 Class A Certification means that our yarns have passed the highest standard, suitable for direct contact with the most sensitive skin, even babies and small children.

They have been tested for over 350 harmful substances by independent laboratories, and certified NOT to contain harmful levels of irritants, allergens or carcinogens.

Following is a list of yarns that are safe in babies are:

if making wearables, go ahead and use baby/ sport weight, or DK as the #4 worsted weight is heavy and doesn’t drape well in a wearable.
