Need some tips with fluffy yarn!

so , I’ve recently made a super cute bear and wrote a pattern along the way. The only problem is

  1. I have no clue what yarn size/ type it is since my sister got it from a thrift store and later gifted it to me and
  2. have no clue how to explain where to put the arms/legs and tail when you can’t really count the rounds.
Here’s the yarn picture for reference

And here’s the photo of the final product:

cozy bear

I made sure to take lots of pictures but wanted to get some opinions from people who usually use this kind of yarn. Someone suggested in threads I make another version in non fluffy yarn but again I don’t know the size of the yarn so I feel like it wouldnt work out since I’m not sure if it can be made in the same size that would help me out with the positions and rows.

If any of this makes sense i’d love some opinions. Maybe I should just go ahead with a tester call to see if it’s doable??

Unfortunately I haven’t used this type of yarn before!!
You could but feel around and guesstimate what round it might be on as long as you give a range rather than just one specific round.
Hope this helps!!

I haven’t used the yarn, but it looks similar to Sherpa yarn, which is a 7 (or 6) - but I’m not entirely sure what the yarn actually is. From images I’ve looked at, I think Sherpa yarn is more full like how chenille yarn would be and not how it looks here (which looks like matted faux fur yarn).

Many people may have some trouble with placement since they can’t see, so I do suggest seeing if it can be worked in different types of yarn before sending it for testing

If you don’t want to do the extra work, you can just say: place as you see fit!

It is very fluffy and adorable!

Thank youuuu! I haven’t had any clue so I’ll start by looking it up and it is matted/flat considering it’s sat in a bag for a few months and who know how long before that  but super fluffy so I’m hoping it doesn’t do anything weird when I decide to throw it in the wash? Or maybe that’s the way the yarn it but again I’m going to get started on tracking it down!

The yarn looks nice, but it will be confusing when crocheting. Like did I miss a stitch or did I added extra stitches. I had a yarn like that and to be able to use it I had to use regular yarn for it. This I’m talking about 20 yrs ago.

You did great. I would love to test but might or might not be with the yarn need to order to try again.
