New idea♥️🤷🏼‍♀️

Hi guys! I had an idea and I need to know if it’s totally crazy or maybe something useful! I was thinking what if we created a small group of maybe 7-10 priority testers made up of people we know and trust to test our patterns? I really want to focus on testers who have good reputation in the community, are active, and have shown reliability and kindness in their feedback. Not random accounts with no history or questionable activity. Thanks for reading my giant wall of text:sweat_smile::heart_hands:t2:

That is a good idea!!

Well, it’s not really fair because maybe someone new really wanted to test (like I was) your patterns but couldn’t then yeah, I don’t think it would be fair for other people but that’s just my opinion :purple_heart:

Yeah I agree, some people may be new and don’t have any crochet history on ribblr but are great crocheters.

Yeah they can do that, not sure why I completely forgot you could show proof!

Yes but we don’t know that, and some people could lie to get into the tester!

That’s an idea people have had before, and while I won’t say it’s terrible, I don’t know if it’s the best idea. People, especially newbies, should be able to test if they want to, there should be no excluding anyone. That being said, I think maybe people should have to like pass a quiz about testing before they apply for the first time so they know what to do. I do agree many people don’t test correctly.

Im a fairly new tester, and i would hate not being selected as a future tester because of that.

It’s a fine idea but it seems rude to exclude all newbies from testing. Instead perhaps having more requirements like a public Instagram account would be better since like that new people could still join and since it’s a public account you can vet those that may not seem reliable.
Like i’m new to testing and really just wanted to know the experience before deciding if I want to test my patterns or not, so if it was impossible for people like myself to test it would really just make testing and setting up a tester call seem more scary than it actually is.

I only post my art (not fiber art) on my public Instagram, I stick to Ribblr for my crochet social media, I follow crochet instas just don’t post

Omg, your post comes at a time when i’m testing a second pattern for a tester and one of the testers from this second time messaged me asking for the written pattern of the previous test as they had missed the post, but they really liked the previous pattern so much. They said they are not gonna post any pics so no one would know. Excuse me, i would know! So not gonna do this. Also i messaged the pattern writer informing them about this. This is so not ethical. I totally get you when you say reliable testers.

It’s a good idea but it would not be nice to new testers or people who only test sometimes so thay only have like 5 karma (im one of them lol (i often prefer to design over testing)

I dont see anything wrong with having a group of testers at the ready, but i dont think you should not allow anyone else. Set up a group of right and ready testers like 4 or so, and then pick 4 random ones. Lol just my 2 cents.

I’ve done this in the past, but I’d just ask them first, I wouldn’t only choose them

What is karma? How do you get it?

Yeah, This is an idea, but I agree with the majority with this. I was a beginner andI’m very thankful for some amazing people that let me test their pattern as an absolute beginner @fatesbymoira (thanks I really appreciate u picking me for your axolotl pattern)! If the beginner are never chosen, they will never get to show that they are advanced.

Karma is this point reward system. You get them by completing crochet testing(on time)! Hope this helps
