I was also going to mention the similarity to Anchor, but the question is did this designer use Anchor as a starting point (buying/seeing the pattern) or not.
If it’s okay to have 500 of the typical octopus (or ghost, snake, caterpillar, bee, etc) style we see, it then has to be okay to have multiple “realistic” versions. After all, “someone” was the first person to create the first one of all of those patterns as well, and every one that came after is a copy of some fashion.
Anchor is created with a billion pieces, so there is a chance to create a realistic octopus that’s written differently.
Again, just comes down to how this pattern was thought up and created in the first place - using Anchor’s pattern as a blueprint or not.

I love sea animals and crocheting a real looking octopus was one of my first crochet goals to make a pattern of
I did look at all kinds of pictures of crochet octopuses but I didn’t just pick one and try copy it
I looked at many to see how I should even begin to crochet it
