New to reading knitting patterns

Good morning I’m new to knitting and am trying to knit a tank top. The pattern I’m following has me confused.

There is a pattern in the rows and the picture shows it continuing up to the shoulders.

My problem is is says, cast of 3 sts at the beginning of next 2 rows.

Work 2 row dec 1 st at each end in every row.

Cont without shaping until armholes measure ….

My dilemma is do I continue at the beginning of the pattern where it says default to (as it does say continue pattern throughout)

You’d bind off 3 at the beginning of the next 2 rows and you’d decrease at the end of the next 2 rows for the next 7 rows you’d decrease at the end of every other row
The cont. means continue so it’s saying continue the knitting pattern without the decreases
