New to sewing, pattern ideas?

Hello sewers! I usually just crochet but I want to start to sew. I have a sewing machine and know the basics from a class I took a few years ago. Anyone have any pattern ideas? Nothing too huge, it could be Ribblr or from somewhere else. I would prefer plushies that are small/medium.
Thank you

My friend designed her own sock puppet. I would start with a drawing/picture inspiration. if you know how to use geometric shapes to design/cut/sew the pieces that might be cool.

I start a new activity with a challenge so that I can learn from my mistakes and get better at whatever activity I’m working on.

You got this, as any questions. We are all here to help! Send pics when you figure out what to do!!

I would really recommend looking at Choly Knights website if you want to make plushies, she has a beginner course were you make squishmallow type stuffed animals to start and then move on to harder stuff! She also has tons of great tips for working with different types of fabric AND she has tons of free plushie sewing patterns!

(I just wanted to share this)
I don’t sew in my free time or anything but we did a sewing unit in school and I made this monster! (Also this was sewn by hand <3)

Also made this for a 1st grader that drew a monster and we made it (that was a required assignment :sob:)

Also idk I couldn’t find any patterns :sob::pray:

Omg, thank you for this! I’ll probably still never sew my own plushies (too expensive, lol) but I had no clue a guide like this even existed!

Your welcome! Yeah it can be a little expensive to start ( especially if you want to use a sewing machine to make them) but some cheap stuff you can start out with is, for fabric use fleece or felt with are relatively inexpensive, use felt to make eyes, and you can always find older sewing machines for pretty cheap if you look ( or you could just hand sew!)

I have a nice machine, I’m just not good at it. But fleece is kinda expensive! Maybe I could start with felt.

Yeah felt should be pretty good! And also, if there is a Joann’s near you they lots of times have fleece for 6 -7 dollars a yard ( right now they have a sale so it’s five dollars) and you can also check in the end of the bolt bins were the fabric is usually 50%-75% off because it’s leftovers from the fabric bolt and it’s such a small amount (if your talking about making blankets and clothes) that it would be hard for them to sell it!
