hello folks! I’m in line to hopefully do a market this November, and I’ve recently discovered that while amigurumi is cute and all, i really love making flat/non-amigurumi projects. im about to start the same blanket a 3rd time sinply because i love it so much. maybe it’s cause of the feeling of the stuffing, but im not as into making amigurumi as i was. this leads me to my question, would non-amigurumi projects sell well at a market? i was thinking of making star bags, ear warmers, hats, and maybe some loveys as they don’t need much stuffing. i still plan to make a couple amigurumi projects for it. but would it be worth it to make other things? just as a heads up, im not asking for patterns, just wondering if i should take the time to make the non-amigurumi projects
Scrunchies
Amigurumi would probably sell best, but like u could make hats and stuff or coasters or bags or smth
Maybe bookmarks? I’m not sure, I’ve never done a market
Bookmarks, draw string bags, scrunchies, coasters, granny square pencil cases, those have all sold well for me at markets! Hope this helps! :)
Yes. I have been in several markets and never sold any amigurumi.
I would say its worth it!
water bottle mesh thingies? does that make sense… bags definitely! phone strap things, not market bags… ah messenger bags! those are so cute, beanies (it’ll be winter ish), gloves definitely! coasters
Amigurumis will sell the most but dishclothes, face scrubbies will sell easily. You could also make small baskets or trinket dishes. I like wall hangings and tapestries too. If you like micro crochet you could also make some small earrings with granny squares and embroidery thread.
I would do research on the market you are going to so you know the demographic you are making things for. Like a younger demo would probably gravitate towards crop tops/bralettes and face scrubbies where an older demo might go more for household items. This is not to say that 20yos don’t like a good coaster or cute basket lol
For ideas, I think those succulent coaster sets are popular or boho wall hangings. Also plastic bag holders, toy hammocks, tissue box covers, blaclavas, and hooded scarfs.
Other things definitely sell. Market bags, dish towels, scrubbies, coasters, dice bags. You can also crochet play mats for kids (like a blanket with roads).
i usually do amigurumi at my markets and sell other things that are non amigurumi but this is probably because the customers interest go to the colorful, soft, 3D items and they don’t see my non amigurumi items. but lots of people sell non amigurumi and make good money! i would do beanies, blankets, keychains, airpod cases, etc
It depends on the market, the time of year, and the people that show up. Being in November, wintery things should sell well. Hats, gloves, scarves, etc. Other items that tend to sell: rags, pot holders, mug rugs, cup cozies
I have a new sew granny square purse on my shop that is a good seller on my shop
i normally sell amigurumi but i’ve definitely had success with bucket hats, bags, cardigans, and blankets when i sell at markets! the only thing is, cardigans and blankets are a lot of yarn and a lot of work, so those sell less since they’re priced more. but i wear a crochet cardigan i made when i go to my markets and people have asked for my business card as a result!
