I need an opinion on this poem…

I know you never listened
I didn’t even care
Until I said I love you
And you weren’t even there

I didn’t want to leave
Cause you might say it back
But then I had to realize
That mom didn’t love me back

When you start to realize
That I found out
You finally said it back
But it’s too late now

Sure little brother will be lonely
And older brother too
But I have to do this
For me, not for you

Yes I will be crying
Even if all the love was fake
Cause I know I wasn’t lying
But you still cut me off for goodness sake!

It told a story, has a surprise ending, and evoked emotion of sadness, a germ of hope for the future, guilt, and internal conflict.
Hopefully, it’s not a veiled poem about suicide. If so, TALK to someone you feel safe with.

I got into foster care at 13, so I could relate to the poem.
