So what happened was I had a a little of butter pasta in a container in my backpack. The container poped open and spilled on my yarn. It is now the next day and I am thinking that it is fine because it was only a little bit of pasta and now I was crocheting with that yarn and it smells loke pasta and my hook keeps getting all greasy no matter how many times I wash it. What should i do? Is it a good idea to rinse/ wash my yarn ball? HELP PLZ!!!
Support is for help with ribblr platform =) updated to general. Good luck!
You should look at the care instructions on the label of your skein of yarn. Most yarns state that you can watch them, so it shouldn’t disintegrate in your washing machine. The main problem is how tangled it will come out. My suggestion is to put it in a small garment bag, or a pillowcase with a knot at the top. I would find both ends of the skein and secure them within the zipper or knot at the top or something. That way it won’t get as knotted and you can find the ends.
Then wash it on a gentle cycle.
Good luck. You should let us know how it goes.
i agree with this! but, if it’s chenille or maybe cotton, I dont think i would do this. if it’s acrylic, i’d recommend washing it and then letting it dry in the sun
You could also make whatever your making with it then wash it as long as what your making doesn’t have like things that would come of or can be on a washer ![]()
So what you guys are saying is i should put it in a wash bag and throw it in the washing machine on gentle cycle or should i just rinse it?
Well, I said wash it on gentle cycle. I did forget to say you should then air dry it after.
Just rinsing it might not get all the smell out. Washing it with detergent will get it clean…. Your yarn looks like its acrylic. Should wash just fine.
I agree with @ChrochetGirlie that if its not too much trouble, you could finish what you are working on and wash it along with the yarn.
Yes I will do that. Thank you verry much
