Pattern Library?

I was on my way to my local library to pick up a crochet book, when I was struck by an idea

What we had a Ribblr patterns that could be borrowed?

Ribblr+ users could send a request to someone with a paid pattern and the owner of the paid pattern could approve of the request to borrow the pattern.

The higher the membership rank, the higher the price of the pattern that can be borrowed!

This would be really cool to have, seeing as some people won’t buy patterns from other shops for fear of being scammed.

There could also be rotating borrowed patterns, too!

  • Yess, that would be cool
  • Nah, that’s boring

I get the idea but I don’t think this is gonna work. I feel like pattern creators would lose a lot of money if people could borrow or trade their patterns. Like… what’s stopping someone from just screenshotting the whole thing and keeping it forever? And that wouldn’t be fair to the people who spent time and effort making those patterns…

I wouldn’t say it’s boring, but it wouldn’t be fair to the pattern designer. They work hard on these patterns and deserve the money

Exactly!

Well, the pattern designers have to approve the request first. They can always decline

Yeah as a pattern designer (even tho I don’t have paid patterns yet) I wouldn’t want my patterns being borrowed :/

I never said anything about trading :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

But like I said, The designer has to approve borrowing requests. That was kinda the idea.

idk how that will work but I guess we just wait for ribblr to look through this :) (if you want them to see this you might want to move it the the suggestions space)

Okay, how I worded that felt a bit rude. I’m really sorry if that came of as mean:sweat_smile:

Also some people are not as understanding and if they get rejected to borrow a pattern they may not want to follow the pattern maker’s shop. So it could also cost followers not just money

Which I know isn’t as important as money lol

There could be a feature where borrowing requests cannot be sent. Or ignored or smth

No, you’re good :)

They also could only get notifications if they get approved. Like, if they get declined they won’t get a notification

Same thing if the requests arent seen.
