When putting out a pattern test, I see people adding how much they are going to charge for the pattern when itās released. I was wondering why? Does it change whether someone would want to test for you or not? Also, how do I close out a testing call the right way? I always edit and write test closed, but someone told me I had to close it out a different way? Thanks for any help ![]()
Your way of closing a call is fine! People add how much theyāre going to charge as the pattern wont be free, so a lot of people on ribblr canāt get them. Additionally someone might have a budget on how much they can spend on ribblr and so this helps to see if itās in budget.
Unfortunately, people are more likely to test sometimes if they know itāll be paid after testing.
Thank you, I really enjoy the community here. I need to spend a little more time learning how everything works. Thanks for the reply ![]()
Iām pretty sure to close a tester call, you can go to your shop page, go to the testing tab, then there should be an option to close the call.
Ok I just found this Donāt forget to close your tester call.
Simply edit the title of your post and add the word āclosedā. You can also reach out to our @leaders if you need help. Once the word āclosedā is added crafters will not longer be able to click to apply. So we only have reach out if it doesnāt close.
No problem!
Thatās another way. @ribblr call closed should also work.
Thanks!
Thereās no need to tag Ribblr to close testings, tagging leaders is good enough! ![]()
I have done a few pattern testing calls already, 1 free, 1 paid and currently have a closed one now. They have all closed for me with just editing but I just wanted to make sure I was doing it correctly in the future. Also I didnāt know if posting the cost of the pattern was something I should add for future tester calls. Thanks for the feedback
Ya thatās simpler
Moved to Testing Spaces. General is for ALL fiber artists.

Thereās a couple of reasons why I post how much a pattern will cost or whether it will be free:
- To cut down on the comments asking āis this going to be free?ā
- To help those who budget get an idea of how much they would need to save for my pattern(s)
- I like to give as much info as possible about the pattern (without actually giving the pattern away
) so that potential testers can make the most informed decision whether they want to test for me or not - It also helps me determine whether people actually read my full tester call. Its one of the first things youāll find on my tester calls and if I get that question (1) I know I am very unlikely to pick them as a tester because they didnāt read everything carefully before applying which I think carefully reading is a big part of being a tester.
And back to the āwill this bee free?ā question, I learned VERY quickly on my first tester call that more people apply to paid pattern vs free (I swear at first I got more comments about whether it was going to be free rather than testers applying). It left kinda a icky feeling in my stomach, like I absolutely understand why, but it just not great knowing someone wants to test because they canāt (and in some cases donāt want to) pay for a pattern. Like at times it definitely feels like they just want the pattern and not actually test⦠and I can tell when I get the āfeedbackā that really is just a photo of the finished project with absolutely nothing about the pattern (whether is was easy, hard, saw any typos, had trouble understanding anything, etc.)
