Personal Website vs. Platform Selling — What’s Your Take?

Hey fiber friends! :yarn:

I’ve been curious about how different artists choose to sell their work. Some stick to platforms like here on Ribblr, Etsy, or Instagram, while others build their own personal websites. It made me wonder…

:sparkles: Is having a personal website worth it once you’ve grown a following?
What are the real pros and cons of managing your own site vs. staying on a platform?

Also, if you’ve ever considered having your own site—did you want to build it yourself, or would you rather have someone help with branding and design? I imagine both paths have their own challenges and perks!

I’d love to hear your experiences or thoughts—whether you’ve made the switch, considered it, or decided it’s not for you. What made you choose your current setup? And if you’ve built a site, what was the hardest part?

Let’s chat! I think this could be super helpful for anyone considering their next steps. :speech_balloon:

i think that starting out, you should go on a known platform, like etsy, just to start out and get your company out there. then, you can advertise your own website on the platform you originally started on. this is just my opinion though! i have an etsy shop and will probably do this when i get more sales.

My thoughts so too! I was thinking it might be hard if you don’t have any built up following yet  thanks for sharing your opinion!
