Price?

So I was asked to crochet a whale shark as a commission, I was in the process if making one when I ran out of yarn. So I started another one with the yarn I had and still managed to run out if yarn. Anyways I finished the 2nd one and I’m unsure of pricing. I’m going to be selling this one at a market, I was thinking of around 25-30 considering it took about 8-10 hours to make. It is a medium size plush, maybe around 15 inches long. What would you guys pay? pattern link (idk if it works) Free Whale Shark Amigurumi Pattern - Easy Crochet Tutorial - Storyland Amis

Man, if non crocheters knew the time we put into these, you could sell them for so much cos of the hours u put in ToT. I’d probably say calculate the cost of the materials used and add that to a price of like 30USD, def no lower than that, plus if it’s a commission, it could be higher. Id pay around 30-40 for that. But that’s my opinion as someone who crochets, idk what non-crocheters think about pricing lol.

This mught help Supplies + Hourly Wage + Business Expenses x Profit Margin = Wholesale Price x 2 = Retail Price. Or this persons vid might help xd

Alright, it is really difficult to be in the crochet field and sale bigger items. Tysm for the help!

Not sure if this helps, but there is an app called Craft Pricing Calculator. It will ask you for price of materials, time to make, etc, then will calculate the price for you. This could give you an estimate on what you actually want to charge, depending on price variables of where you live. Or you can just charge what the calculation comes to.

I think $25-30 would be a good price considering you used 2 skeins of yarn on it.

Was it 8-10 hours of work?? Or did you work on it off and on for 8-10 hours. That makes a big price difference!

I didn’t have an exact hour count so I can guess around 8 hours in total. I worked on it over a couple days. Main time was spent embroidering the spots on the body. :+1:

8 hours is so much time!! Charging minimum wage would put you at about $80 USD already
