It is really annoying that I can not print a pattern. Now I have to sit at my computer to crochet. definately a downfall and not sure I will use this website anymore. I used to snip it and then print it and now when I try to snip it is just blurry . What is the issue of printing it?
What is everyone thoughts on this?
it can be really annoying, i went somewhere where i couldnāt have my phone and i had to write the patterns i wanted to make down in a notebook and it took a while
I prefer the ePattern.
I cannot print, and if I do get something printed I cannot enlarge the print. I hated marking off each row on a printed pattern. One more tool needed to crochet (pen).
I have a few WIPs that I can take with me that need no pattern if needed. Like blankets, dish cloths, etc.
I know it is so annoying I wanted to print off one of MY patterns to give to a friend but It wouldnāt let me so we had to sit at a screen while she made it I donāt understand the problem especially if itās yours ?
Hi!
As mentioned across the platform all patterns on Ribblr come in an interactive format for the best experience.
Using Ribblr ePattern you can translate patterns from English UK to English US, select to view your size only instead of all sizes, watch stitch tutorial videos as you work, convert measuring units, takes notes and WIP photos and so much more.
You can also track your progress by line or section on both patternsā instructions and charts. Everything is saved and synced automatically so you can continue on any device, right where you left off.
We appreciate and understand that you are used to crafting in a certain way.
Some designers do include a downloadable PDF as part of their interactive pattern and you may reach out to the designer and ask for a PDF if thatās essential to you.
Thatās okay , I joined some free crochet websites where I can print patterns. I will use that instead. Itās a shame because I liked your site but I am not willing to sit in front of my computer to crochet.
They also have an app if reading a pattern from your phone is convenient for you.
I canāt read items from my phone because they are too small. Also Ribblr said to contact the designers to get print patterns. None of the designers I contacted wanted to do that. I have joined several free pattern crochet groups where I can print patterns , so I donāt need ribblr. I am wondering how many customers they will lose because of this.
Thanks !
Having it not printable from Ribblr offers the designers a degree of protection from theft. Because if you can print, you can print to PDF. If you can do that then it is very easy to take the PDF and offer it as your own pattern (= steal it from the designer). If I were a designer Iād prefer that the pattern NOT be printable
You can zoom in the text to make it larger.
As tygger428 has mentioned, Ribblrās system helps to reduce piracy of patterns (which is an especially big problem amongst free patterns). I myself have seen many images from pdf patterns on the internet, some still showing ādo not re-distributeā on them (not to mention how many people might be trying sell them as their own). Designers are understandably cautious about providing pdf copies of their free patterns, and appreciate the protection that Ribblr offers.
To compensate for the inconvenience of not having physical copies, Ribblr provides many benefits that are only possible with their digital system. A few of them are, the ability to mark off lines, conversion between metric & imperial measurements, āhow toā videos for common stitches from just clicking on the stitch in the pattern, interactive charts, and in patterns with multiple sizes you can hide instructions for sizes you donāt need.
Some people still prefer to be able to print off patterns, but I think the majority find that the benefits outweigh the inconveniences.
Ribblr is the only one doing this so I donāt need them.
Then they shouldnāt offer it at all if they are that concerned.
Ribblr was designed since day one not to print from
I am not sure itās been mentioned but toner is not cheap, yet another reason not to print. I also donāt like having several sheets of paper to have to keep track of.
I use my tablet to read patterns. I would never use my phone as it would be too small to read. Iāve had cataract surgery on both eyes, my tablet shows large enough images for me to see.
