Here I sit, browsing Ribblr and Etsy for crochet patterns and ideas for future projects I need to do before October of next year (that will take oodles of time to complete), because I just don’t actually want to crochet right now?
I got a ton of stuff done when I had deadlines for craft fairs, but this project doesn’t actually have a deadline, just an “oh, it’d be nice to have it done by then but the person commissioning it doesn’t really care” type deal.
Granny squares just get so boring sometimes. I mean, not if they’re interesting enough, but granny stitch just isn’t enough to make me want to blast through this stack of in-progress squares right now.
I hear ya! That’s why I toggle between a tedious stitch and amigurumi. So right now, I’m actively working 4 different projects including a SC rectangle pillow in Bernat Velvet.
Maybe you could set up some sort of goal and reward plan for yourself?
If you do x number of squares, then you get to work on y amount of time on something that feels more fun right now. Repeat till its finished or the mood passes
That’s a great idea! I have problems with procastination too, so it’s a great solution for me too!
I have someone that told me “it’s no hurry”. I hate that … Next project after testing, I promise.
Also, I made this blanket for myself and never weaved in the ends yet. I “finished” it 2 years ago. It’s going on a roadtrip with me today to get a little work done.
I have adhd that’s a constant struggle for me luckily I have deadlines.
Wow! @HookedByMarilyn !
On night 6 of 17 in a row of my 12 hour graveyard shifts (tonight being an overtime night), with a migraine and feeling incredibly unmotivated to work through my stack of granny squares.
Gosh, I’d feel the same way.
