Protecting Younger Users

I’m genuinely scared for these newer users, especially the younger ones

Can we remove the location option for your bio and add like a little parenthesis next to the name to say (not your real name)? Same with signing up

I made this giant PSA on internet safety for people who have been here for a while, but I think that new users… especially minors… should be required to read through something like it before they actually join the community section. There have been some p3dos on here and I don’t want anything bad happening to these young kids.

Heres the PSA

I’m asking because some of these kids have put their full address and pictures of their faces online, not to mention their age and birthday, and it’s genuinely horrifying

I get that this is a relatively safe community, but that hasn’t stopped creepy people before. Like I saw a post asking for teenagers to share their age meanwhile the pfp looked like and adult.

If you need screenshots of what I mean I will dm them.

Please take at least some of this into consideration.

Preach it mango! I would say do t even mention if you are a minor. Some people don’t care about the age, they care if you are a minor so don’t even mention that.

Real (especially when people right there ful name and address that can be really dangerous) for the location thing I only think it’s ok to write like your country or ”the yarn store”

Yeah definitely!

The problem is that most young kids will put their city, state, or even address because they don’t know any better.

Like I’ll put something silly for mine, but that doesn’t mean that everyone will

but yea i totally agree, its way too easy for young people to lie about their age to access 13+ websites, and the internet is full of creeps

hell, I did that for Spotify :moai:

Thay maby should have options instead like different countries and different funny stuff like ”the yarn store” ” watching tv”

Because I think it can be good with the country thing because people will understand when people speak different languages or aren’t fluent in English

(maby thay can add what languages you speak instead of countries)

The watching tv thing is more appropriate for a status

Saying your country while I don’t recommend it, its that bad.

But you can also add to your bio “English isn’t my first language” which solves the language problem

Like my bio is great example of what you should put in a bio. Like mine doesn’t even have any specifics

It still doesn’t because sometimes I speak Swedish with @ExistingDuck and @Beantheplatypus (some more people too)

Im not arguing Im just trying to say that it can be good people can find other people speaking the Same language

You can just add the fact you speak Swedish in your bio.

But adding a location isn’t nessicary. Like you can speak Spanish but live in Russia

Yeah I really think thay should replace country with language

I 100% agree with this!! I’ve seen so many minors on here recently and it has me worried for their safety and well-being.

I was thinking the same things!!! Thank you @Mangolemmon939 for putting this out there. I feel like kids don’t realize how many creeps are out there until they’ve experienced it. (And trust me, I’ve experienced it.)
