Question about licensed patterns

Disney can and does quite often send cease and desists/copyright violations. They have the money and lawyers and are known for doing it.
If you change the name you might be alright, but it’s best to avoid copyrighted characters.

I agree. And also avoid trademarked ones. Disney, Nintendo, Sanrio, paramount pictures, Sony, etc not only copyright but also trademark their characters, images and other intellectual property. As do the sports organizations such as the NFL, NHL, NBA etc

Trademarks have to be aggressively defended or they can be lost by its owner

So if it is in a tv show, movie, or if you did not come up with the idea originally, don’t do it. Offering your version or paid doesn’t matter, it’s still illegal

I think you can as long as it’s a free pattern, you can’t profit off of somebody else’s design

Doesn’t matter if it’s free or paid. If you don’t have the copyright holder / trademark holder’s permission, you can’t use their image to make a pattern of
