I started crocheting in 2020, mostly before that was finger knitting and stuff, but I learnt it in a crochet club where we crocheted blankets for an elderly home

I was a teenager in high school, My mom tried to teach me but it didn’t go so well. LOL
I used to take yarn and some hooks with me when I did babysitting. After the kiddos went to bed I practiced “crocheting”, at least that is what I called it!
My sisiter-in-law taught me how to read the patterns. I was “hooked”!!! That was 60 some years ago and crocheting is still my favorite thing to do all these years later. My family will probably bury me with hooks and yarn!!! LOL
