Saw some beautiful self patterning yarn but appears that it only works with knitting.
What if you just work sc, will the self patterning still show?

Wow I didn’t know that existed, it seems really cool though, but I’m not sure if sc will give same effect if it’s made for knitting

I had no idea this kind of yarn existed, but that is so cool! If you look at the user photos you can see some people who used it for crochet with varying results. There’s actually a person on yt (cinnamon stitches) who made a gorgeous scarf with it using single crochet like you suggested, so it is definitely possible to get a pattern from the yarn, even if it looks a bit different from the knit style.

Oh this may work with tunisian crochet
I’m not sure tho since you have a forward pass and a back pass so the yarn amount distributed to a sc but scattered

I’ve never seen them like this! I’ve seen self patterning loop yarn for little blankets but not like this

Yes it works with sc. With premier fruits.

I have some from premier. Its not as clean as with knitting since crochet uses more yarn per stitch, but with sc you can get it pretty close.
