Hi everyone, I’ve been meaning to say this for a while, but never got around to actually making a post.
I’m sure everyone has seen all of the repeat questions in the Support space. In the past 2 hours or so, there have been 7 posts about the exact same issue. This could’ve been avoided if the 6 people who posted after the original actually took the time to look for a solution, instead of immediately making a post. And this isn’t the only example. I’m sure everyone has seen the repeat “My shop profile picture isn’t updating!” posts, or the glitches that were solved by reinstalling the app or refreshing their page, where they could’ve found a solution by browsing through other people’s support posts.
The community guidelines say “Before posting, search for existing topics to avoid duplicates and ensure your post leads to meaningful, positive discussions.” and Ribblr even gives you a pop-up that shows similar topics, so I don’t understand why people are still ignoring them and continuing to make new posts about the exact same topic.
And I know many people have seen @Lunascrochet’s recent post about the Testing zone (go check it out if you haven’t yet). Again, if people took the time to check out the little pop-up, they could see the 50 tester calls for bees that other people have posted. I guess I’m just trying to ask everyone to take some time to think before you post, and make sure what you are sharing will benefit the community. And please, please, please read the community guidelines if you haven’t already.
this happend last time ribblr had a big issue, and i think there came out to be like 13+ posts about it. thank you for saying this, it definitely needed to be said!
Unfortunately, this happens all the time and is very frustrating, when all it takes is for someone to search for the answer first.
As you also stated, when creating a new post, we are even shown ‘similar’ posts in a drop down menu, that often contains the answer someone is seeking.
It’s very frustrating having to repeat the same answers over and over again.
I’ve noticed this issue often comes up for Market Help as well.
I think the problem is, that many people simply don’t read the guidelines, or if they do, can’t be bothered to look for the answer. It’s easier to get someone else to provide them with the answer, instead of taking the time to do a search themselves.
i remember this one time that ribblr’s patterns were down and there were 20 different posts even though you could just go and see that there are ALREADY a LOT posts about it and just wait for ribblr to solve instead of making your own
Pausing before taking action is a lost art. When an answer is a quick search away, posting about it feels less about getting information and more about seeking attention or interaction.
thank you for making this kiwi! i’ve noticed this repeatedly happening with shop pfp not updating posts or posts in which they’re confused on how to set a new pfp or status.
i also heavily agree with you on the testing zone thing too! how many scrunchies and whales and octos and bees can i say glwt to…
i also notice this, like @IMadeIt said, happening in the Personal spaces > Marketing help section! there have been countless posts about bestselling patterns, but no one ever thinks to look there
Thank you! Does get very annoying! I am sure this will have to be stated the next time something like this happens, which will probably be soon unfortunately! May I add the “ideas for next pattern”. The pattern wiki is underutilized
