Hey friends! Long time no chat - things have been oh so very busy!
I have been working on a knit pattern test lately, and it got me thinking how much I’d like to delve more into knitting, including the commmunity aspect of knitting - with Ribblr users, in particular, as I don’t venture much into other social media.
Idk about y’all, but I always find it inspiring to see works from fellow fiber artists, and I’d love to see more of your knitted works or just hear about your goals/aspirations/projects within this craft! So, I made this thread to be a knit-specifc thread to talk about your recent cast ons, current wips, your latest bind-offs, or even any cool things you’ve been learning along your knitting journey. The knit side tends to be a little quieter in terms of posting, so I’m hoping to encourage more of it with this knit dedicated wip thread! ^.^
As for myself, I’m hoping to make at least one knitted project a month to share here and eventually make a beginner knitting KAL for Ribblr users who want to try their hand at it, so if that sounds like something you’d enjoy, please let me know! (And if any knitters have recommendations for free or low cost ribblr knit patterns geared toward a novice, please feel free to share so I can start building a poll!)
I’ll go first with a test project I bound off just this last Saturday; it is called The Abigail Sweater, and its designer Chai Crafts (on IG and elsewhere) will be releasing it soon! This is a fabulous design with a lot of beautiful details; I learned heaps of new techniques, like how to add bobbles and working a folded over collar, as well as several new stitches with tongue twister names. TBH, this project was probably out of my league, and I confess I was overwhelmed at first with all that I didn’t know, but it honestly wasn’t as difficult as I built it up in my head once I was immersed in the project.
I gifted it to my mom for Mother’s Day after snagging these quick photos of it (for anyone curious)!
Thanks for reading, and now it’s your turn -hope to see your knits!
