Tell us a little about yourself:
Hiya! I’m Alex (they/them), I’m an AuDHDer, queer, disabled, and chronically ill human living on Wahpekute land (colonized as MN, USA). I am fur parent to a sweet dog named Sadie. I am currently home and bed bound due to severe ME/CFS. When I was better I was working as a mental health therapist, and enjoyed hiking, camping, board games, quality time with loved ones, witchy activities (tarot, candle magic, crystal healing, astrology, etc.) & lots more crafting time. Currently I’m spending a lot more time meditating, reading (listening to audiobooks), fidgeting with my Stimagz and crocheting.
When did you start crafting and how?
When I was a child - mostly then it was random arts & crafts then jewelry making. I started knitting around 2013. I got a Cricut in 2020, and sublimation printer in 2024 and enjoy making a variety of things on it. I started crocheting in 2025 (peep my first make, Fred the dinosaur from Woobles) and it has been my hyperfocus/special interest/fidget since.
Do you have a favorite craft type?
Crocheting b/c the variety of things you can make, the portability of projects (mostly), and my ability to do it while listening to an audiobook, watching TV, talking to people, etc.
What was the most memorable project you worked on?
Probably the wolf I made (pattern @StellasYarnUniverse) bc I learned about pinning things before you sewed everything together, and it was a game changer.
What are you currently working on? Be honest - how many WIP do you have right now?
Right now, some pants by ilovetinderbox. haha probably 4 total?
Which of your makes/designs are you most proud of?
Four Leaf Fortune [Mosaic] I tested by @princessmonter - it was my first time doing Mosaic and there was a big learning, and a lot of frustration and frogging, and I wanted to give up - though I’m proud that I didn’t, and proud of how it turned out!
What inspires you to create/design?:
ADHD, haha - I need something to do with my hands. Otherwise seeing others’ makes, or seeing all the brilliant ideas designers come up with.
Any favorite song, book or movie you would like to recommend?:
Oh man, I gotta pick just one!? I recently read the Astral Library by Kate Quinn and it was terrif (it’s a “realistic fantasy” with elements of mystery / thrill, IMO).
What is your favorite feature on Ribblr?:
Being able to check things off on a pattern as you go, row-by-row, so I know where I am in the pattern!
