Say hello to Allison @marshmalli - our new Ribblr of the Week and designer behind cats&crochet! 
Tell us a little about yourself:
Hi! I’m Allison, I go by Alli though! I’m known by marshmalli in the community! I’m 35 and a stay at home mom to both kids and cats. It’s a small circus around here usually! 
My cat Miso has gained a small fan club in general chat! There are semi-regular requested updates on him! I’ve included a pic of Miso for funsies! 
When did you start crafting and how?
Technically, I started crocheting for real in January of this year (2026), but my great grandmother taught me crochet when I was around 8. At the time, it was the literal hardest thing to figure out so I didn’t touch it for many many years!
And how did you start designing?
I have only designed two things so far, both when I was a bit newer to crochet…and I started initially because I wanted to do wearables only. Turns out, I barely make wearables anymore. I am about to start designing something cool with a group of friends though! So be on the look out for that!
Do you have a favorite craft type?
Crochet is my favorite obviously! As to why: I have tried nearly every hobby, none have stuck! Crochet is something I haven’t stopped at all since picking it up! I do some photography as a hobby though too!
What does Pride mean to you?
Pride to me means inclusivity, belonging, kindness, and open-mindedness in the face of pushback. It means acceptance for all! Pride month is such a fun, colorful month of celebration born from struggles past and present and I love seeing all the ways others celebrate.
What is your favorite part about being in the LGBTQ space?:
Being bisexual, it’s a mixed bag. I’ve been accepted and embraced in a good amount of places as well as being told I’m not really a member of the LGBTQ+ community. Overall, I enjoy the community I find with others that are bisexual too! So that has to be my favorite part, the community and kinship you can find!
What was the most memorable project you worked on?
Right now?! The fire & leaf dragon I tested for @censdesigns! I enjoyed that one so much!
Do you have any Pride themed projects you have made or working on now?:
I do not actually! I’ve been testing stuff for the whole month of June and I tried out tapestry too!
What are you currently working on? Be honest - how many WIP do you have right now?
It’s a list, don’t judge me! Currently, I’m working on: a fire dragon from censdesigns, I’m testing a fruit cow for Cen as well, and I’ve applied to test a couple more things. Currently I have 2 WIPs…
Which of your makes/designs are you most proud of?
Well I’m not super proud of any of my designs as I feel like I’ve grown a lot since I did those, but I’m excited about what I’ll be working on that I mentioned previously! Makes I’m most proud of…gotta be the leaf dragon I made testing for Cen, my first tapestry turned out pretty neat too! I also love all the little things I’ve made recently too!
Any favorite song, book or movie you would like to recommend?:
Song: Call Off the Bells by The Early November (I have a ton of song recs but this one popped to mind first!) Book: Alchemised by SenLinYu
What inspires you to create/design?:
My kids for sure and my friends I’ve found on here!
