Tell us a little about yourself:
Hi everyone! I’m the crafter behind Crochet Thyme! While I create patterns, you will always see a cat behind it chewing on my yarn or sitting on my lap!
When did you start crafting and how?
I had always seen others crochet and knit, and I remember being really impressed by them. They tried to teach me but I could never crochet, and I think the motivation was lacking because I only did normal squares. Then, a few years ago, my friend’s birthday was coming up, and I wanted to make something thoughtful. I knew she liked plants so I decided to try and crochet her something! After many Youtube tutorials and many hours spent staring at the screen, trying to figure out how to do a single crochet ( which I am now ashamed to say I didn’t know how to ), I finally made my first crochet piece! I was so proud of it and now I look back at pictures and I can’t believe how I made such an odd shape out of easy and simple instructions! Afterwards, I fell in love with crochet. I realized I could make so much more than just plain squares and started pushing the limits to what I could do. I felt like I could make everything I wanted to! It was so exciting and I’ve kept that love even today.
And how did you start designing?
Honestly, I would love to say that one day I got an idea and just made it come to life, but that wouldn’t be totally the truth. I first decided to start designing because I think I began to be a little bit bored from making patterns from other people. I love them, of course, but I wanted to experience the joy I had when I first started crocheting, that was that I could make anything, whenever I wanted. I wanted to be able to make things on my own and not have to find a pattern for them. I think I felt crochet getting a little bit more limited, and what first made me fall in love with it was the possibilities. When I found Ribblr and learned I could open a shop for free with no pressure, I knew I wanted to try. I opened my shop and when I posted my first pattern, I got so excited! Making something that was my own felt like rediscovering crochet all over again! I also loved the feeling of working on a crochet pattern that no one has ever tried before, and that I was the only person yet to have every crocheted this piece, and that made it mine. I worked hard thinking about my first pattern, because I had not a ton of ideas but after making it, the ideas started flowing.
Do you have a favorite craft type?
I love a ton of different craft types like sewing, embroidering, but I think crochet is my favourite craft. I love the idea of creating all sorts of different shapes just out of yarn and hooks! It feels so magical!
What was the most memorable project you worked on?
I think I have two projects that will never quite leave my mind. The first one, is of course, the plant plushie that made me fall in love with crochet. The second one is a dinosaur that was the first ever pattern I majorly altered. It was the first pattern I really felt like it was truly mine. I had found a pattern of a cat and after I finished making it, I realized I had a ton of green yarn, and decided to make a dinosaure. .The proportions are off, the stitches unclean but I think it’s one of my first really important patterns because I will never be able to recreate it. I never wrote it down so I think it’s the only pattern I know, that is truly mine. , it has suffered through time and it’s really not stuffed well, but I’ll always keep it because it reminds me of the possibilities of crochet.
What are you currently working on? Be honest - how many WIP do you have right now?
Right now, I’m working on a collab and a custom and I have multiple ideas and drawings. Honestly, I don’t have a ton of WIP because I always feel like I need to finish a project before starting another. I also don’t have a ton of yarn (even though my friends would say otherwise) and when I have a lot of WIP, some yarn balls can’t be used and that always annoys me.
Which of your makes/designs are you most proud of?
I think the design I’m most proud of right now, is my Starry Stella pattern. I think I still prefer the look of my Delilah the Duck but when I made Starry Stella, I really felt like it was my first ‘real’ pattern. I felt like it was the first one that was truly special for a reason I still don’t quite know.
What is your usual process of designing?:
Usually, when I design, I first come up with an idea. Then, I try to imagine in detail how will it look. I draw it to know exactly how I want it to go and start testing shapes and how could I make some parts of the design. Sometimes, I admit, I change the design halfway because I had a better idea, but that’s usually how it goes!
What inspires you to create/design?:
It varies a lot! Sometimes, when I’m on a walk, I see a cloud that looks like something and think it would make a good pattern! Sometimes I’m just sitting and an idea pops into my head and I jot it down.
Any favorite song, book or movie you would like to recommend?:
I don’t have a ton of favorite songs, books, or movies because I don’t like things that repeat themselves that much. I like books or movies but then don’t love coming back to them. One book that I remember really liking was Anne of Green Gables. I really loved it even though I haven’t read it in a while and don’t want to read it back because I think it might break the magic I’ve created and now think about this book if I reread it!
What is your favorite feature on Ribblr?
I think my favourite feature on Ribblr is how testing is so easy! I love to test and I find it really helpful to click only a few buttons to have my patterns tested!

I don’t have crochet accounts yet and I’m right now only on Ribblr for crochet!
Which 3 - 5 designers/patterns on Ribblr are your favorite?
I have so many favourite designers and patterns, it’s really hard to pick a few! I think definetely, one of them would be @grosnimbusstudio, I tested a pattern from their shop and it was absolutely incredible and I was so happy of the result! Another designer I love is @intheloopcrochetco, I also tested a pattern from their shop and it was once again, wonderful! @Kooks Krochet , @getknottedco and @soapyissophia all have also some really wonderful patterns that I loved making!
