Tell us a little about yourself:
Hello! My name is Cosmo or Cami and I am a queer teen crafter who lives in the southern part of the United States! My favorite color is green (more specifically like a dark moss green). I have AuDHD and chronic pain, fatigue+ other symptoms. I use crafting as a way to cope with my conditions and love spreading awareness for other conditions <3
When did you start crafting and how?
I started crafting when I was in 6th grade because I saw amigurumi online and knew I needed them. My therapist taught me how to crochet and knit as a coping mechanism! (I dislike like knitting) In fact our first pattern we made together was Bluebell the Blueberry Bunny by @Asterstitches
How did you start designing?
I started designing a few months after I started to crochet because I was tired of relying on patterns to tell me what I can and cannot make. My first few patterns were interesting to say the least… One was a cat cake roll that was falling apart and had you tie the ears on in a knot instead of sewing them. My most recent pattern is a Zebra pattern which is a collab with @craftycellist
Do you have a favorite craft type and if so - why?
My favorite craft type is either crocheting or cross stitch! I love the repetitive nature of both and how portable they are. I have yet to finish a cross stitch pattern so no pictures of that for you. Always having something to do with my hands is so important for me to be able to focus.
What was the most memorable project you worked on?
The most memorable project I have worked on has got to be my giant sloth. He is such a snuggleable guy I am going to have to make more soon. The pattern is out of @craftinginglory ‘s book!
What is your usual process for designing?
Well to be honest… chaos. I start with a funky sketch that looks nothing like the end result then get to work. I frog 90% of the project most of the time. As I work I write down what I am doing on a doc and hope I don’t mess up miserably (my moth testers I’m still so sorry).
What inspires you to create?
I am usually inspired either doom scrolling through reels by someone else’s artwork or in the late night where I am a shrimp over my work an idea strikes! So I go and do my silly little sketch and the designing process begins.
What are you currently working on? Be honest - how many WIP do you have right now?
I am currently working on writing many patterns for y’all! I have about 10 patterns planned, however I actually need to get to them first… I am also working on a crayon box for my rainbow crayon set! And for WIPs? too many to count… too many…
Which of your makes/designs are you most proud of? Share a picture!
The make I am proudest of has got to be either my rainbow crayons or moth (patterns both by me!). I freehanded both of them and honestly, I am surprised they turned out as well as they did! It may or may not have helped my brain fell into a bit of a crayon rabbit hole and crocheted 10 crayons in 24 hours… (what can I say they only take thirty minutes)
Any favorite song, book or movie you would like to recommend?
For shows: House MD and 9-1-1 (regular and lonestar)
For music: Conan Gray, Chappell Roan, or Mother Mother
I don’t read much or really watch movies but I do know Princess Bride is a banger novel and movie
Share a funny story that happened to you recently!
It wasn’t funny in the moment but is now as most humorous stories are. I was attempting to order a chicken sandwich at Chickfila and instead of saying “A number 1 no pickle please” my brain decided I needed to say the whole sentence except I also was struggling to form sentences that day. What spewed out of my mouth was a mixture of gibberish and asking for the establishment. I said to the cashier “May I get a chickfila- queue the gibberish”
What is your favorite feature on Ribblr?
My favorite feature on Ribblr is definitely the “for you” part of the home screen. It makes it so easy to find patterns and inspiration to get my crojo back <3
