Say hello to Ellie (@Elliestoten)- our new Ribblr of the Week and the designer behind Ellie Stoten
Tell us a little about yourself
Hi, I’m Ellie! I create cute, wearable beginner friendly crochet patterns for people looking for their next wardrobe staple! I’m based in Hertfordshire in the UK and I’m totally inspired by all things girly and cosy.
When did you start crafting and how?
I’ve been crafting in some shape or form my whole life, learning how to sew, knit a scarf, draw and just generally create, from my mum. But I didn’t learn to crochet until 2020, lockdown being the perfect opportunity to pick up a new skill, and I fell instantly in love with the craft.
And how did you start designing?
I mostly work freehand but have recently started turning these freehanded creations into patterns to share with my lovely community. I have many more exciting patterns coming soon that I can’t wait to share!
What has been the most memorable project you worked on?
I love film, and I recently created a 5 part series designing and creating crochet pieces based on some of my favourite films over on TikTok and Insta @elliestoten. These included Amelie, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Spirited Away, Call Me By Your Name and Marie Antoinette.
What inspires you to create/design?
As well as Film I am also greatly inspired by the books I read. My current cosy autumn reads are Rewitched by Lucy Jane Wood and Before The Coffee Gets Cold: Tales From The Cafe by Toshikazu Kawaguchi.
Who are some designers you would like to give a shoutout to?
My 3 fave designers over on Ribblr are @devouthand @realmdesigns and @Yaejiyea.
Thanks so much for being here this week Ellie , it’s a pleasure reading about you!
