Ribblr of the Week - Meet Lenny and Louise 🏅

Say hello to @knitterssisters - our new Ribblr of the Week and the designer behind Knit Sis :confetti_ball:

Tell us a little about yourself
Hi, we’re Lenny and Louise, two sisters who share a passion for knitting and all things creative. We grew up in a family where crafting was just part of life, and now we create colorful, approachable knitting patterns to inspire others. Our goal (we’re hoping we’re not too far from it): to bring joy to knitters, one stitch at a time with colorful and joyful pattern**

When did you start crafting and how?
We started knitting as kids, thanks to our aunt and grandmother. They were both passionate knitters and had endless patience with us as we fumbled through our first rows. It wasn’t perfect (far from it! My first project was an Italian flag that looked more like a triangle in the end with all the stitches I lost along the way), but it sparked a love for making things with our hands.**

And how did you start designing?
Designing came much later. At first, we’d just tweak existing patterns to fit our style or needs. But over time, we started experimenting with our own ideas. It was a learning curve, but we loved the freedom it gave us to create exactly what we wanted.**

Do you have a favorite craft type and if so - why?
Knitting, without a doubt. It is now a big part of our life. A day without it can feel so weird for us. It’s our yoga, medicine. The way we know we can disconnect and release all the stress from our works / lifes and so one

But we tend to have the habit of thinking we can craft anything and start new hobbies every week (which can be a bit much I guess for the people sharing our life ahah)

What has been the most memorable project you worked on?
One of the most special projects was designing our first pattern together : the Elmer Cardigan (that we will soon release on Ribblr). It was nerve-wracking and exciting all at once. The challenge was from the stitch and colors changes ; we realized that we both bring something to the table and made us design many more after that**

What are you currently working on? Be honest - how many WIP do you have right now?
Too many! Between the two of us, we’ve probably got at least eight projects on the needles. Some are in the “almost done” phase, and others… well, let’s just say they’re taking breaks from us now.

But too be really honest, I (Lenny) have most of the WIPs. I’m a serial cast-on knitter while Louise is more a focused knitter that need to have 2 WIPs max to be able to enjoy it

It’s funny for us to see how different we are this way (in life like in knitting ahah)

Which of your makes/designs are you most proud of?
We will have to mention two here :
The Marguerite Cardigan - It’s simple and cute at the same time. Great for beginners and has been adapted by our Grandmother (which is clearly a sign of great designs)

The Cardichou - Also really simple, adaptable (and we will soon launch a kid version ; to be able for knitters to mix and match with their kids hehe)

What is your usual process of designing?
It can be sooo different from design to design. It can start from a constraint ; to have to create a pattern with a specific yarn, specific mood and then ideas flow. Or sometimes the pattern just comes to itself and we have to draw and knit it. The really nice thing to be 2, is that we can complete each others on ideas and make them become even better**

What inspires you to create/design?
Honestly, it’s the little things. A color palette we see on a walk, a texture that catches our eye, stitches books (We have so many of them, and love to find them vintage or bring them from trips. It’s funny to see how knitting is spread differently around europe for example), or even a feeling we want to have while knitting a project.

Our big sister is a big part of our inspiration as well ; she’s a really colorful woman that knows how to mix and match outfits. And we love to add some knits to her looks

Any favourite song, book or movie you would like to recommend?
We’re huge fans of Juliette Armanet (a french singer) who has been on our Top Spotify wrap for many years now.

For book I’m currently reading “Résister” from Salomé Saqué; which says a lot of political current state and gives way to resist

And movies; I (Lenny) know I’m years delayed but I’m watching all Lynch movies at the moment and feel so achamed that I haven’t took the time to watch it before
For Louise it would be more on old classic like “Moulin Rouge” ; she was benched watching this movie as a kid - teen

What is your favorite feature on Ribblr?
We love how Ribblr makes patterns interactive. The ability to see instructions step-by-step and customize sizes is such a game-changer, especially for beginners.**

Share a funny story that happened to you recently!
It’s a hard question, but I guess each time we’re back to knitting together, shooting some content gives us a good opportunity to laugh with ourselves and life together of course.

Where can others find you?
You can find us on Instagram, Youtube, Pinterest, and TikTok. We share patterns, tutorials, and lots of behind-the-scenes moments.**

Would you like to shout anyone out on Ribblr?
We’re big fans of:

  1. Oops and loop with the Knitted Top (and any other pattern she proposed ) The Knitted Tee: Knitting pattern | Ribblr
  2. Vknitb with the Adi Cardigan
  3. Nicoline Sofie knit with the Mica Top

Thanks so much for being here Lenny and Louise, it was a pleasure to read about you!
