Tell us a little about yourself:
Hi, I’m Lisa Asante 29, known as Rainhascroche, a crochet designer and knitter who loves turning yarn into beautiful, functional pieces. Crafting is my creative outlet, where I blend texture, color, and pattern to make handmade items that bring comfort and joy. I’m passionate about keeping fiber art alive while adding a modern, personal touch to every design. ![]()

When did you start crafting and how?
I started crafting at the age of nine when a childhood friend named Nancy introduced me to it. What began as simple curiosity quickly grew into a true passion as I learned how to turn yarn into beautiful, meaningful pieces. Over time, crafting has become my creative voice and a way to bring warmth and joy to others through handmade designs. ![]()
And how did you start designing?
I stopped crocheting after childhood, but while studying fashion design at university, an assignment pushed me to create something handmade, and I returned to crochet during a time I was struggling with sewing. After discovering Sewrella for inspiration, I designed a crochet dress that gained a lot of attention on campus, which motivated me to take crochet fashion seriously. By Level 200, I opened my Etsy shop and began selling digital crochet patterns, starting with my ballerina dress design.
Do you have a favorite craft type and if so - why?:
I love sketching dresses because it calms me and gives me peace, especially during stressful moments. During some of the most difficult emotional seasons in my life, my faith in Jesus grew stronger as He inspired me with clothing ideas that reminded me I wasn’t alone. Those creative ideas became a source of hope and gave me something to look forward to each day.
What was the most memorable project you worked on?
One of my most memorable projects is my ballerina dress, which started when I planned to make a jumper but my mom suggested I try a dress instead. I shared it in Facebook groups, and the response was overwhelming — one woman even said the dress made her happy that day, which filled me with so much joy. Later, I remade a section with a different yarn to improve durability, and it turned out even more beautiful, making the experience even more special and fun. ![]()

What are you currently working on? Be honest - how many WIP do you have right now?
2026 for is the year of more beginner friendly but elegant and super quick to so I’m making a mesh dress and a skater I just can’t wait to share it! yay
What inspires you to create/design?
I’m inspired by nature, especially the colors, textures, and calm feeling it brings. Fashion also inspires me, particularly personal style and the rich, cozy looks of fall. Those elements influence how I combine colors, shapes, and details in my creative work.
What is your usual process of designing?:
I start my design process by sketching the idea, labeling details, and choosing yarn colors that complement my skin tone before buying the materials. As I crochet, I take notes and photos, then compile everything into a written pattern. Afterward, I review, fix mistakes, and sometimes frog sections, which often sparks new ideas and helps me improve both the design and the final pattern.
Any favorite song, book or movie you would like to recommend?:
“I’d recommend three of my favorites: the book Angels on Errand, and the movies Ratatouille and The Passion of Christ, because each inspires me in different ways—through imagination, creativity, and faith.”
