Ribblr of the Week - Meet Lucy! 💜

Say hello to Lucy @Loopsbylucy - our new Ribblr of the Week and the designer behind Loopsbylucy :confetti_ball:

Tell us a little about yourself:
Hi I’m Lucy, I’m 18 and a devoted Christian. I love creativity and peaceful activities like reading, walking and of course crafting. I’m currently taking a gap year in which I plan to have some quiet time for myself will trying to build up my business.

When did you start crafting and how?
I started in 2022, a friend at my school crocheted and they helped me to begin learning and kindly guided me. From there I watched some tutorials on YouTube and made presents for my friends and family, some little animals and flowers.

How did you start designing?
When I had crocheted for a time (possibly a year or so ago) I knew how to make basic shapes and used that knowledge and my interest and ideas to create my designs.

Do you have a favorite craft type and if so - why?
My favourite craft is crochet, probably because I enjoy it the most, I find it satisfying to create, to make an array of items with different unique features and beauty.

What was the most memorable project you worked on?
Is the Miffy I made for my brother I made it when I first started out. I used a pattern which was supposed to be small :joy: it did not turn out that way, I don’t know what happened and its eyes are a bit squinty but I love it. And what I love most is that I made it for him, he took it to university it sat on his bed and it is now on his desk which shows me how he really loves it, his love and support of me and my crafts.

What inspires you to create?
In my life I’m blessed with the nature all around me and the creativity of others and many things around me, the seasons and different trends and styles. I love nature related things but also the arrays of colour and possibilities.

What are you currently working on? Be honest - how many WIP do you have right now?
I currently have 4 groups of things in the making , and the last group is several medium sized boxes of random bits and bobs which I hope to put to good use, but am unsure if I will.

Which of your makes/designs are you most proud of? Share a picture!
These are a few of my favorites!
Alex, who has badges decorating them to show support to different communities . I freehanded the patches and it showcases pride for all people and groups which I think is very important.

Any favorite song, book or movie you would like to recommend?
I’m really enjoying currently Claire Leslie, several of her songs including Twenty something, which I think is very encouraging for those of us when we feel uncertain. I’m also reading a book by Tieler Giles called ‘How to ditch the how to’ which is a beautiful book about embracing God’s grace in our lives which I found important and transformative in my life. It’s good to be reminded of being gentle and loving to ourselves as he is with us.

What is your favorite feature on Ribblr?
Is the journals, that we can share our crafts and support others in theirs. I have found Ribblr to be such a creative, beautiful, safe, lovely and supportive community and space.

Congratulations!!! I love that you mentioned that you’re Christian! Some people wouldn’t want to say that because of how people may think of them. It’s good for us to show our faith though!
