Say hello to Yani @Highlandcowcrochet - our new Ribblr of the Week and the designer behind HighlandCowCrochet 
Tell us a little about yourself:
Hewo, I am @Highlandcowcrochet or, as my friends on Ribblr call me, Yani! I am a just a girly teenager who lives in the Southeastern US, and I am also a Messianic Jewish Christian. I love to crochet mostly amigurumi and besides that I also love to play my violin, guitar, and write poems and book series!
When did you start crafting and how?
I started crochet about 3 years ago after almost all of my friends were talking about it and enjoying the craft. I kinda got in a creative slump for about a year shame on me but came back and I am so glad I did!
How did you start designing?
I firstly found Ribblr, and noticed how many great designers were on here! (shoutout to all the designers on here, you all are the best!) I wondered, how hard can it really be, and designed my first ever pattern, a polar bear with a scarf! The designs skyrocketed from there, and despite taking many pattern designing breaks due to burnout, I now have over 20 published patterns in my shop and many more on the way!
Do you have a favorite craft type and if so - why?
I love crochet because of its nature and just calming aesthetic. I also enjoy writing and getting my thoughts on paper, and playing my violin (to me its a hobby).
What was the most memorable project you worked on?
Probably my sunflower turtle, its the one project I always want to show people when they ask to see pictures of my work. My little siblings all love it as well! The pattern is by CrochetByGenna if anyone is interested!
What inspires you to create?
It can be anything from a picture on the internet to a cute animal I see in public! Seeing the picture in my head of the finished product, though, is what can motivate me the most to finish it, and not have it end up just another WIP.
What are you currently working on? Be honest - how many WIP do you have right now?
Well, I won’t lie, but possibly 7? Three of them are part of collabs, one is a test, one is my mushroom sweater by autumnolivecrochet , and two are just random plushies: a fluffy blue lochness monster and a green shamrock care bear that I may never finish.

What is your usual process of designing?
I usually see something I want to make, and just go for it! I’ll write down the pattern on paper, then make it and type it up onto ribbuild, making sure I upload photos and necessary supplies for the project. Then the rest is just getting the pattern tested, getting an intro written, and publishing it!
Any favorite song, book or movie you would like to recommend?
For songs, Numb Little Bug by Eim Behold, Devil In Disguise by Marino and Trying My Best by Anson Seabra are all amazing works of music! Some great books are the LOTR series and The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien, This Present Darkness and Piercing The Darkness by Frank Peretti and anything by Janette Oke! For movies the LOTR triology, Shutter Island, and the first three Pirates of the Caribbean movies are great watches!
Share a funny story that’s happened to you recently!
Well, this didn’t really happen to me recently, but at a market a couple months ago, a couple came up to my stall and the man just pointed at the duck snuggler I had made (pattern is by @KiwiCreations) and just laughed and said, ‘Duck,’. His wife then nodded at him and he just handed me the cash for the plushie and walked away. I was so confused and my brother was with me and we just laughed.
What is your favorite feature on Ribblr?
I really love that you kind of have a virtual pet with Ribbot, and I think the gems and gem patterns were an amazing and unique add on as well! I also really like the way ribbuild is so easy to use and it is so simple to post a tester call!
