I am begging ribblr to implement these suggestions to help make paid purchasing more trustworthy..
Adding a public sales number on a pattern or on a shops profile. This can allow customers to know whether your pattern is being bought or not (especially if there are no journal entries!). Also implementing a public sales number on a shops profile can help give the shop a positive reputation, making it trustworthy for future buyers. (This could be toggled if you do not prefer to publicly display your sales numbers!)
Different payment options (not just STRIPE) so that payment is more accessible for everyone!
I think if you’re buying a pattern you can use any payment method. For designers you have to use stripe to sell. I think I used Apple Pay to buy something on here before, but that was a while ago so maybe it’s changed
What I meant was for sellers because to set-up a STRIPE account you have to link a business bank account and it might be very confusing for younger folks. If there was an option for pay-pal, I think that would be better.
People have asked for other payment options in the past. Hasn’t happened yet =/ maybe one day.
I’m also a bit iffy on the public sales figure. Just because a pattern has sold a lot doesn’t make it good. And it might wind up leading to people getting more upset because a shop has more sales than them with similar (or worse quality) patterns.
I highly recommend before buying a paid pattern, to look at their free ones. Free patterns might not be as detailed as the paid ones but it will show their writing style and if there’s errors, then should give you an idea of what the paid one might be like. Journals are super helpful too. I won’t buy a pattern unless I see the journals and I even look for the pattern elsewhere to see if there’s other reviews, even just some about the seller themselves.
Younger people on here should be getting their parents to assist either way. Bank account or PayPal, both require a ssn so they likely won’t be doing either without parent permission (and quite frankly shouldn’t)
