When I crochet plushies for babies and smaller children, I usually think about whether to crochet the eyes or use safety eyes. Both have their pros: Crocheted eyes are soft and completely baby-safe, which is great for little ones who love to chew and eat things. Safety eyes can look more polished and are quicker to attach, but they might not be the best option if the plushie is for a baby. They can pop off unexpectedly if not hot glued, melted, or super glued on. I don’t think one is necessarily better than the other; it just depends on who the plushie is for and what kind of look I’m going for. What do you prefer?
This triceratops I made has crocheted eyes, and is for a teething baby who is under a year old.

I personally make a lot of amigurumi with embroidered eyes.
I think they definitely can look better than safety eyes and it’s really nice to have that extra security.
I’m a mom of 2 kids and they can be super destructive at young ages. Anything and everything goes in their mouths and/or up their noses for some reason.
Besides I think your triceratops is super cute and you did amazing work with the eyes!

If it’s for ages 3 and under than I do embroidered/crochet eyes, if not then I use safety eyes!

I love embroidering the eyes, seems like it gives a more personal touch

If it is for a child 3 yr old and under I embroider or crochet eyes. I do not feel that the safety eyes are safe enough for children that young. Especially given I have had some of the backs split and break when just trying to put them on.

When making things for young children or animals, never use safety eyes. I made something for my little cousin once and she pulled an eye out immediately. Safety eyes are nice if you’re looking for a nice shiny eye, but they can be quite expensive and for beginners it’s hard to know which brand of eyes are good to buy from.

like you said it might come off without u knowing, so to be safe use crocheted eyes
