I’m so annoyed - I was looking for cute patterns for things to make my cat and I came across an Etsy listing that looked super similar to the free pattern I’ve made before. This Etsy shop has over 1200 sales and EVERY SINGLE LISTING I have checked is a free pattern they stole!!! I reported all the ones I checked but it’s insane. They literally have almost 150 listings.
Edit: I posted the names and listing screenshot below
That’s awful!?!?!?! Why do people do that it’s just awful
I feel so bad! What is the shop name? Ill go report them.
That’s SO unfair to the original pattern owner
What’s wrong with people so glad you reported it. You sould share the shop name so we can report it too.
The store names are DigitalonlyCrafts and on5thav here’s the particular ad that first caught my attention. And the actual pattern they stole it from
What??? That’s a pattern from YARNSPIRATIONS how has no one reported them
Hopefully they get reported enough.
Yarnspirations needs to be told. As the copyright holder they can formally request that it be taken down. Etsy has a means, as most online sites do, of giving owners a means of reporting infringement. Etsy can ignore complaints from non owners but must respond if the copyright holder gives them a take down notice.
This!! That’s so bad, i hope it gets taken down. crazy how people think it’s okay to profit of the hard work of others??
I hate it when people do that! It just makes me so mad.
Thank you @Crochetbykaia for trying to correct this and making others aware of those users. It’s such a shame that people do bad things.
I sent in a contact form to them about it!
its poorly photo shopprd too
thanks for sharing! hopefully the report to yarnspirations will get them taken down soon.
these kinds of things are rampant across etsy, unfortunately. i made a similar post about a different shop roughly ten months ago (on reddit) and it still managed to garner at least another ~1500 sales before it was taken down, even though it was selling patterns from companies like lion brand and hobbii (among many independent designers)
for anyone who may be wondering: you can usually tell by the listing photos whether they’re a reseller. there may be a bunch of different models (coming from a supposedly independent business?), different locations, and different styles. i like to reverse image search the pattern i’m buying and look for the shop on other platforms (especially instagram) before buying off of etsy
The scammers are getting so bad. I created a new Instagram crochet account 3 days ago and i have already got 6 scam messages. And they are literally all the same message. Ridiculous
Omg and the fact that they photoshopped the background so they know it’s wrong
it’s so sad that Etsy is flooded with scammers. it used to be so much more manageable. now, it takes 80 years to see some of these shops get taken off. i’m glad people are noticing and checking patterns, but you shouldn’t even have to. thanks for bringing more attention to this.
The entire internet is flooded with scammers and other people of questionable integrity unfortunately
that is so annoying! i just reported the shops so hopefully that will help. i wish we could do more than just reporting though
