Hello everyone, I was curious: does anyone else scent their projects?
I use perfume or very diluted essential oil either directly onto the yarn or soaked into in a little sack of rice that I use to weigh down plushies bum to make them sit.
My favorite project to put a scent on is a bouquet of crochet flowers, my mother loves them to make her desk smell lovely!

Of course, dont scent projects for strangers but for family members. I added lavender (lightly) to a stuffed animal I crocheted for my mother and shes not allergic.
Its not reccomended for strangers or friends you’re not sure will like the scent. I also don’t reccomend anything too potent as I’m not sure if un-diluted essential oil would damage the yarn or not.
I crochet scented inserts for some of my makes and allow customers to choose the scent. For example, I have a plague doctor pattern that I make two scented packets for based on real plague masks - one with myrrh and resin and another with lavender and clove.
Ive never done it, but now im interested in it. Do you spray the sent on the finished project or the yarn as your crocheting? And what kinds do you use? Thank you ahead of time for the answers

Hi, I spray a scent onto the project once its finished and let it dry. I use either my favorite perfume or mix essential oil with water. Spray until its damp and let it dry.
Alternatively; you can put a pouch of rice or beans in it with the fragrance soaked into it inside the project if its a plushie.
I hope this helps.
Thankfully not much! It does turn my skin red/give me hives, and cause headaches though haha. I have to avoid hugging certain people because of the fragrance in their detergent though, which sucks
I generally crochet a sachet that can be inserted into the finished make and then fill the sachet with either scented beads (like the ones you put in laundry), incense cones, or dried flowers/spices.
I’m currently designing a mother hen pillow that will come with different scented eggs lol
