Sell finished projects or patterns?

Heyy so basically ive been getting my yarn from temu (its cheap okkk) with like birthday money, but i wont be getting birthday money a lot so i need a way to replenish my yarn. i need ur opinions on whether i should sell finished products or sell the patterns, and if u got any tips for anything. i get my yarn from temu bc its cheap there, and i get it in big bundles bc i need to spend over a certain amount for free shipping.

also if u can plz lmk why u chose the option that u picked, and if its to sell the finished item would amigurumi be easier? (ive only done amigurumi ive never made any clothes or anything).

  • Sell pattern

I think you would have more success selling your makes to your friends and at school. There are a lot more people who can’t crochet than there are people who can crochet. So I think the odds of selling your makes is higher.

Keep in mind, there are a lot of free patterns available on the internet. I think that if you want to sell a pattern it has to be unique (ie: there aren’t dozens of the same/similar patterns available for free) and they have to be of a high quality.

If your school/church has a fete or car boot sale etc you could ask if you could sell there.

You could ask friends and family if they have any unwanted yarn (assuming they crochet/knit).

Perhaps you could ‘earn’ some pocket money by doing some jobs for your parents around the house etc. Perhaps washing the family car/s, shoveling snow etc.

Here are some other ways you can get cheaper but better quality yarn at a good price (when you do have money).

  • checking regularly for sales at your local stores.

  • look for discontinued yarns at heavily discounted pricing.

  • look for yarn at thrift stores, garage sales.

Good luck. :four_leaf_clover:

I agree with this! I’d personally go to a dollar tree to find some yarn (it’s surprisingly high-quality for around a dollar per skein)

Omg tysm so much!!! Yea i was thinking that there’s a lot of free patterns too, because I’m sure that there’s a lot of people who don’t buy patterns, they find free ones (like me lol). I don’t think I’m allowed to sell at school, but I’m sure my mum will let me sell things on facebook or smth.

I’ve seen people sell crocheted items at markets too, and I was thinking when I get enough yarn to make enough items I could also set up a small stall there too, but I’m pretty sure that I need to pay a bit to host the stall there tho… but thanks so much for replyingg!!

You don’t need to reply again to this if you don’t have time to, but what do you think are some popular, small, easy crochet amigurumi projects that sell well?
