Hi! I have the issue that because I am so young, I get VERY attached to the toys I make and I struggle to find the want to sell them even though they gather dust (metaphorically gathering dust). Do you have any tips on how to not become attached to your project?
think about it this way, while you can make tons and tons of toys, and love them, there will come a point where there are too many to care about them all equally. by selling them or giving them away, you’re sending them somewhere where they’ll be cared about so much more than you could do all by yourself. if there’s one you’re particularly attached too, you don’t have to give it up. maybe you could even let them sit somewhere and over time, you could be ready to give them another home
I think what @LoafOfBread Said Way better than what I would’ve said so I recommend going with that
I love the idea of someone else falling in love with something I make. And appreciating my work enough to pay me what my time is worth. I want my work to find homes where they will be well loved for years. I like to view it as a way of spreading a little joy around the world, or at least my community.
(Although if I didn’t need money to pay bills and survive, I would be giving everything away for free!)
I kinda regret selling this one … (you should look at more of the pictures …)
you said scared, i would fix it to cared lol. sorry i don’t normally pick on typos but it’s kind of the opposite meaning from the one you’re going for.
my bad lol, im awful at typing
Think of it like this
If you keep on making them that means there is so many to equally love and by selling them youll feel better by having less to love and no feel scared by not loving one more than the others. Also by selling them, others will get to enjoy your creations and love them and sometimes you will get shoutouts on socials.
As someone that also has attachment issues to things I make, make multiple of them! Keep one for yourself and then sell any duplicates you make :) That way, you still have one, and you’re still able to sell them!
If you make a BUNCH, you won’t feel attached. I don’t even want my things anymore since i’ve made at LEAST 500 (in my entire 5 years of crocheting on and off)
Make them starting with the mindset that they are going to be sold, instead of making them not sure what they’re for and ending up keeping them lol. I have this problem too!
