Should I size up or down?

Okay, I’m REALLY sorry for posting this much so quickly, but I need some help- and quick! I’m being forced to go to some random concert soon, and I want to bring my crochet project: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzf6MjFEdDw
BUT it calls for a 3.75 mm hook, and I want to know whether it’s better to substitute a 4mm hook or 3.5 mm hook for it. I don’t want it to be too small, but I also don’t want a hole-y project and the 4 mm hook would make it bigger. So, what should I use?
(Also I’m using weight 4 yarn)

I would use a 3.5mm!

I’m worried that it would be too small

I think 3,5 would be better…lol

I mean, it’s only a .25 size smaller, I think a 4mm would look great too!
What size is your yarn?

Weight 4

I think either one would look great!
If you’d like to do a swatch to see which one you prefer, maybe that could help you decide!

i think it depends on your tension. since mine’s really tight, i normally size up by .25mm, if yours is on the looser side, I’d go with the 3.5

I made that exact frog with a 3.5mm hook and a weight 4 yarn and mine turned out great

May I see how big it is?

I’d do the 3.5mm to keep the sts tight. If you have enough yarn you could do this trick I found on Pinterest to double up the yarn if you’re worried about it being too small but still keep the sts tight!

My motto is the smaller the hook the better it looks

I would say 3.5mm its always better to use the smaller size because you don’t want the stuffing to show, I always use a 3mm hook with acrylic when I make plushies so I think it would work perfectly fine! But also sometimes depends on your tension.

3.5 - i used to use 4mm… and if uou want to stuff firmly, it shows the stuffing. a lot.

I sized down, and it looks fine! A bit holey, but idk

I would use a 4 mm only cause it’s better to go bigger due to shrinkage, also your tension matters to like if you have tight or lose tension. I have super tight tension so a 4mm is like 3.75mm to me, and a 5mm is like a 4.5mm :sweat_smile: Tension matters

I am SO thankful for you guys saying 3.5 mm bc the project called for a 2.75 hook. I just found out once I finished :sob:- it’s okay, it looks fine
