I do not recommend silk yarn, its expensive and I found it very hard to work with do to its texture, etc. I do recommend bamboo yarn. It looks like silk but easier to work with. The ones I have tried were Loops and Thread Silky Soft from Michaels at $6.99 I got it on sale for $4.89 and Yarn Bee Bamboo-tiful yarn from Hobby Lobby. The Loops and Thread was really pretty and had a nice shine. But watch your tension or it can knot itself. I preferred Yarn Bee Bamboo-tiful from Hobby Lobby. Its a bamboo cotton blend, Not as shiny but easier to work with. $5.49 get it on sale for $3.84. Both of these are a 3 wt yarn but the loops and thread seems thinner.
