Smart match is wrong 😭

I know it’s supposed to be helpful, but the smart match is NEVER correct. I have not found a single time when it showed the materials the pattern was calling for. When you include the link does it show whatever the link is for or does it still make it up?
Basically i’m just saying that the smart match ISN’T smart, so maybe it could be optional to have it in the pattern at all. To me it’s just a waste of space.

Yeah, I was looking at the materials for a pattern once and the smart match showed Bernat Baby sport (a weight 3 yarn), while the pattern was actually made with a 6-7 weight yarn:skull:
I’ve never seen it be accurate before.

Hey, Smart Match engine is pretty new so it would be helpful if you can share a few links to where you see errors.

Not as bad as the one I mentioned above (I don’t remember what pattern it was) but these are pretty off

I don’t have the time to search for more right now.
Another issue I found is that when you click the wand at the top left corner of the yarn, it takes you to a screen you can’t interact with.
It doesn’t let me select different yarn colors, and it doesn’t let me click the ā€œshow moreā€ button at the bottom.

Ok, I have a few. Is it one of those things that was changed about a month ago? I noticed a lot of changes about that time, but then again there are constant changes. Mostly minor.
This is the one that I noticed it first, I was checking to make sure my pattern was ready to be posted.

It says that you need to use juicy couture, which is velvet. Not super wrong, but not correct.
These ones are TOTALLY wrong:

I noticed while searching for some that not every pattern has it, does it just depend on how much info they put in the patterns? Like if they didn’t explain the materials does it not use smart match since it has no clue?

I just made my first pattern and putting the link in didn’t work. But it’s my first pattern so I may have done it wrong.

@ribblr should this topic be solved since you’re working on it? Not sure if I should click solution on your comment because I don’t know yet :joy:

Maybe there could be a place to put the exact yarn that was used so smart match worked better!:yellow_heart:

There is - as long as you add it in your pattern in the materials list (add weight, composition, and even brand) our system will work its magic. It’s a little harder when not enough info is added, but we’re constantly improving it!

Good to know! I’ll try and add as much information as possible in the future!

the clownfish one works (same colours), but the weight is different!

Why do only some patterns have smart match? I’ve noticed that a lot of patterns who put specific yarn names into the materials section don’t have smart match.
There’s also a lot of patterns that have very little material information, but still don’t have it

Yeah :sob:

I think that the designers aren’t giving enough info for it to ā€˜match’

Well what I mean is that there are patterns with a lot of information, but there’s still no smart match.
Like these for example
