🧸Snuggles Circle 🧸

This week’s question… :eyes:

What got you into crochet? :yarn: :pink_heart:

Was it a particular person, a project you saw, or did you just randomly decide to try it? :eyes::sparkles:

After you learned was there anyone who inspired you to continue?

(I Learned to crochet off YouTube around 2-3 years ago after a knitting class I went to. @CrochetByGenna inspired me to continue  )

I’d love to hear about you :backhand_index_pointing_down:

I mostly self taught myself to crochet, but I also watched some yt vids by lilthings. I’ve been crocheting for abt 1yr already and the first time I saw someone crocheting was from my cousin.

I taught myself crochet mostly from yt and pinterest. My friend inspired me to try crochet when she started teaching her neighbours kids and invited me to join. I’ve been crocheting for mb abt 4 months now so I’m a newbie.:sparkling_heart:

my great grandma taught me when i was 8.
i didn’t get very far then (didn’t get beyond chaining).

i saw some stuff about it on tiktok and decided to pick it up again. i don’t know that i was inspired to continue by any particular thing or person, but i did manage to get 2 of my friends to pick it up too!

I saw a cheap crochet kit and thought it would be easy. I didn’t even know what crochet was, in fact, I was surprised to see yarn in the box… I really thought it was some sewing technique, or at least that it was done with a machine (like knitting beanie machines) soooo, I wanted to throw it away cuz it was super cheap but then I heard my aunt was able to crochet so I asked her to teach me, she tried but it was still to hard. I lost motivation for almost a year or so but then my dad went on a trip and bought a crochet book as a souvenir so I tried to crochet again (yes, I learned to crochet without youtube and sort of without people to help me cuz my aunt moved away!)

One of my best friends in the entire world crocheted, and she’d always bring it when I saw her (we live far away) and I wanted to be able to hang out more so on our annual camping trip I asked her to teach me!! I learned how to just do chains and single crochets and ended up making a blanket, but I wanted to do more than flat squares so I took some classes to learn teh techniques and here I am!!

The person who inspired me was @CraftyCrowsCreations

I’m not entirely sure, but I think a youtuber I watched had started making crochet vids and I thought it was cool so I tried.

It was actually the first time I ever met my grandmother-in-law! My husband and I live thousands of miles away from our families do to careers and other circumstances, so we never got to actually meet our in-laws before we got married. Little did I know he told his grandmother I’m a collector of hobbies and enjoy sewing and had always wanted to try crochet, so she brought me 3 skeins of yarn, a 3 set of hooks, and a book on various fabric and fiber arts all out of her own collection. I then just kind of took all of that and ran with it lol. We have since traded patterns together and it’s become a real bonding point.

i just got so jelous of people just making there own toys for free and i thought i could try it! it was messed up, i was like ooooh i wanna make free toys for myself! so there was this trashy afterschool thing and it was SO bad and others didnt listen and im like OH COME ON PEOPLE, SOMEONE IS TRYING TO CROCHET HERE! ended up just doing a granny square then stopped crocheting for a long time. One day i thought i could just clean my room, cuz why not, then i found my crochet box and i was like “hell ya”. I used yt but my dad blocked it cuz im addicted to doomscrolling so i would take my moms phone and watch from lilthings and even pintrest helped. until my dad told me not to touch my moms phone so i got bored and ended up here ..

Self taught crocheter! I have done many hobbies but None stuck like crochet. A few years prior to my crochet journey my mom bought me and my brother crochet kits but we did not understand the terminology lol. After a failed attempt at knitting I found the little plastic hook and said “sure why not!” After many youtube tutorials I made chain stitches and a verry bad mushroom pop. It all went uphill from there!!

I started in primary school at my after school care!!! We had a crochet club, and I remember all these girls chaining and I was like “i wanna do that”. So then I started finger knitting which then turned into buying a temu crochet kit!!! After giving up on the magic ring MANY times I gave up for 6 months, then got a proper kit and started making endless plushies. Now I crochet EVERYDAY, and have taught my friends too!!!
