So I Have a Problem...

I HAVE BEEN COMISSIONED TO MAKE ALL 151 ORGIGINAL POKEMON AND I DONT KNOW WHERE TO FIND THE PATTERNS OR IF I MAKE MY OWN!
I know crochetkittengrll is doing the same thing, but shes making her own patterns and is doing baby pokemon.
But i need help bc idk if i make my own patterns or find different ones but i want all my pokemon to be cohesive…
So, i have a style in mind if i do my own patterns… but if i try other patterns, im not sure if i will have to pay for them, but i also want them to be good quality. AND I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT POKEMON! THE ONLY THINGS I KNOW ARE BC MY BROTHER DRILLED THEM INTO MY HEAD.
So we shall do a poll.

  • You should make your own patterns! Its a good challenge!
  • You should find other patterns
  • You should say no to the order.

I actually really want to make my own patterns bc i feel like if i test them on here, ill get rlly good results and i can have them in my shop for free.

But i also have a market coming up so i need to get that put of the way first. Ill probably image them out first.

I think you should make your own patterns. But I also think you should decline the order. 151 seems unreasonable

Theres no deadline on the order and he said i can do them in chunks or in whole.

Pokémon is under copyright so permission would have to be granted first

How do i do that?

You have to contact them, describe your project and ask them for their permission

This is why I believe designers should develop their own ideas not use copyrighted or trademarked images or characters

But im not going to publicise that im making these patterns. And i was asked to do this.
And plus they wont really look like them. They will be inspired by pokemon. Im not directly copying the design.

As long as what you design is completely different so no one can accuse you of copyright infringement you should be fine

Maybe do a mix? If you can’t find a good pattern, make one yourself!

definetly make your own patterns, but 151!? The customer better pay you ALOT…

Oh my this is something. That is A LOT of crocheting. Making your own patterns would be cool but maybe a little unrealistic. You could try a mix of your own and other peoples patterns. Here on ribblr, you could probably do a collab with everyone having a different pokemon. Then they could design it in the style that you are looking for and if you like it, ask them if you can make it! You might want to ask some trusted designers that you know will be up for the challenge!:yellow_heart:

This site has a lot of them. And Pinterest has some. I googled crochet pokemon and a tone of them pop up. Plus there is a bunch of them on here. Ive done 4 so far and 4 pokeballs.

Holy hades, 151? I don’t think you should accept that. Maybe if you use witchcraft or something.

151 IS A LOT. I think you should decline or at least maybe make the heads.

Um ik you could wait until @crochetbykittengrll finishes here patterns but most of them would probably be paid and it would be huge so lots of yarn

i belive you can get them done!
maybe use a mixture like @RainbowPenguin2 and @craftycellist suggested?
That way you dont get stressed of getting all the patterns pefect:D and would be easier for your hands

They should pay for the physical therapy if you get carpal tunnel syndrome or any other medical issue due to crocheting so many of these

I love that.
