I would guess the maid was lying because 10pm is quite late to be making food.

Unless it was meal prep for the next day or something. It could be the gardener because it would be hard to see plants in the dark. But I don’t want to jump to conclusions

It’s the gardener because 10pm is way too late for trimming hedges although I would be really suspicious of the maid too.
The maid was making food but the butler was clearing off the table like the food was already served and eaten, and 10pm is also a bit late to still be making the food. Even though it wasn’t her she’s still a little fishy haha
