For my own safety I sometimes google my shops name “Hunnicrochets” to see if anything pops up. There are 2 of my patterns shown on a site called pindiy. I did not post those there. I do not know or use the site but it seems like you have to pay for pins and then you can use pins to claim the patterns? They also include my legal name in the titles. I am not sure how to remove them. It told me I had to login in order to report it so I have just made a profile to report it but I am not really sure if that will be successful
I mention this to bring awareness to this platform as I think a couple of years ago other users were reporting peoples patterns being stolen and posted onto this site without the designer’s permission
Love this idea- one of the reasons we created Ribblr ePattern is to tackle the piracy of PDFs which unfortunately has been a huge issue for designers for years now. We wanted to create a format that cannot be abused and redistributed, taking advantage of designers and the hundreds of hours they put into each of their designs.
We actually ran something called Crafter Against Piracy (#CrAP) a few years ago to raise awareness so hats off to anyone helping combat this massive issue!
I love the name of that movement! I would like to ask if @hotmesscrafter’s watermark idea is possible. I feel that it could help in combating this issue. Perhaps a really faint one that either says the name of the shop or Ribblr on it. I’m sure we’d all understand if it isn’t possible, since there are likely some difficulties with implementing a system like that.
I think it might already be possible to make some kind of watermark! When you upload your picture to a pattern you can edit it and add text and change the opacity of it.
