Stop whip stitching garments! (tutorial links)

I have been seeing this more and more, the longer I’m on the site. You spend all this time and money working on a beautiful garment made out of the perfect yarn and took the time to get the gauge and and size just right…then you whip stitch bulky and puckered seams that bind and pinch and don’t move with the garment. It doesn’t need to be that way.
There are only slight differences between the techniques used for knitting and crochet, mostly to adjust for spacing gaps or to line up stitches or patterns to create a seamless look.
Garment seaming is ALWAYS done from the right side!
Proper finishing techniques will give you a flexible and smooth seam that will be comfortable and add to the item maintaining it’s proper shape over time. So do yourself a favor and take the time to learn and practice how to do this correctly. These are mattress stitch, which is the easiest to learn and fastest to work.
